
The city is located between the Patagonian plateau and the sea, sheltered by the rigorous climate. The central area is at the bottom of the Cerro Chenque which height reaches 212 meters. From that place, the panoramic sight is amazing. To the north, the Salamanca Peak, a hill of 575 meters, which perfect conical silhouette is the principal characteristic. The coast has a rough profile, with beach combination of thin sands with rolling stones, protected by cliffs with heights up to 60 meters that fall down of the same coast. |

The “black gold” found in December 13th of 1907, gave unquestionable nickname of "National Capital of Petroleum”, supplying a great percentage of crude oil of the national consumption. The typical balance beams, as it is known the pumping units, are stay in the rustic Patagonian plateau. To the landscape the wind mills, a non-conventional resource are added to generate power integrated to the traditional system. |

To the oil activity adds the cattle ranch and the fishing. Comodoro is centre of capture of prawns and crabs of appreciated quality, as in the national market as in the outside.
